5 questions you need to ask when hiring a product photographer

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

It can be hard to make a decision on who to hire when it comes to shooting your products. Here are 5 questions you need to ask when hiring a product photographer.

1. WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

Every photographer has a different style of shooting and editing. I recommend you look at their website and social media accounts, you can also ask to see their portfolio to get a better idea of their work.

2. WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS FOR SHOOTING PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY?

Every product photographer has their own process for shooting product photography. You want to make sure that the photographer you hire has a process that you are comfortable with. You can also ask about their turnaround time and how they handle revisions. If you have a hard deadline for a launch, for example, you should make this clear when discussing your requirements.

3. WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

The equipment that a product photographer uses can make a big difference in the quality of their work. You want to make sure that the photographer you hire has the equipment to get the best possible results. When I deliver images to my clients, I give them two types of photos – one in high resolution for print quality and the second in lower resolution for web content. I have invested heavily in my photography equipment and have a professional studio set up with lighting equipment.

4. WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

Product photography can be expensive, so it’s important to get an estimate from the photographer you are considering hiring. You want to make sure that their rates are within your budget.

5. WHAT AVAILABILITY DO YOU HAVE AND WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME?

You need to make sure that the photographer you hire is available to shoot your product photography when you need it. You also need to make sure that they can turn around the photos in a timely manner.
