Dubrovnik, Croatia
The Walls of Dubrovnik are a series of defensive stone walls surrounding the city of Dubrovnik in southern Croatia. Ramparts were built in the outlying areas of the city, including the mountain slopes as part of a set of statues from 1272. The existing city walls were constructed mainly during the 13th-17th centuries.
The walls were built to protect the city from attack, and they have successfully done so for centuries. The walls have withstood attacks from the Venetians, the Ottomans, and even the French. They have also survived a devastating earthquake in 1667.
Today, the walls are one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubrovnik. Visitors can walk along the walls for stunning views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. The walls are also home to several forts, including Fort Lovrijenac and Fort Minceta.

TIP NUMBER 1 – TAKE IN THE VIEWS OF THE OLD PORT
Spend some time either having a drink or something to eat overlooking the port and watch the world go by. You might even get to see the galleon ship come into port to pick up tourists.
TIP NUMBER 2 – WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES
If you do walk the old town wall you’ll be doing a lot of steps! The walls run an uninterrupted course of approximately 1,940 metres (6,360 ft) in length, encircling most of the old city, and reach a maximum height of about 25 metres (82 ft).
TIP NUMBER 3 – BRING YOUR CAMERA
Obviously, a top tip from a photographer will always be to take a camera! There are so many beautiful views from the wall that you’ll want to capture, especially from such a great vantage point.
TIP NUMBER 4 – LOOK OUT FOR THE GAME OF THRONES LOCATIONS
Viewers of the TV series Game of Thrones will understand the thrill of visiting the real-world filming locations in the old town. This is the Jesuit Staircase, the most iconic scene in season five “Walk of Shame” was filmed here. Walk around the Old Town and you’ll feel just like you’ve just arrived in King’s Landing as you’ll be surrounded by terracotta tiled roofs and high-rising cliffs overlooking the Adriatic sea.
TIP NUMBER 5 – TRAVEL TO THE VIEW POINT OF MOUNT SRD
Mount Srd soars above the Old Town and is the best place to see panoramic views of the town. You can reach the viewing points via car, cable car from the town or you may want to hike to the top.
